Understanding how urbanintellinet.com collects and uses browsing data

Last Updated: February 2025

What We Track (And Why)

When you visit urbanintellinet.com, small data files called cookies get saved to your browser. Think of them as digital breadcrumbs that help us remember your preferences and understand how people use our budget planning tools.

We're not trying to be mysterious about this. Cookies help us keep your session active when you're working on a multi-year budget projection. They also tell us which features people find most useful so we can improve them.

The Different Types of Tracking

Essential Cookies

These keep the site functional. Without them, you wouldn't be able to log in, save budget templates, or navigate between pages smoothly. They're not optional because they make the basic features work.

Functional Tracking

These remember your choices like currency format, preferred chart styles, or dashboard layout. They save you from reconfiguring everything each time you visit.

Analytics Data

We track anonymized usage patterns to see which tools get used most and where people get stuck. This helps us fix confusing interfaces and build better financial planning features.

Marketing Pixels

These track whether you came from an ad and what you did afterward. We use this to figure out if our messaging resonates with people who actually need budget planning help.

Current Cookie Status

Checking cookie preferences...

Clicking the button above removes all tracking cookies except the ones we absolutely need to keep the site working. Your choice gets saved so we won't keep asking.

What Each Cookie Actually Does

Cookie Name Purpose Duration
session_id Keeps you logged in while working on budget plans Session only
user_preferences Stores your dashboard settings and display choices 12 months
analytics_token Tracks page views and feature usage anonymously 24 months
marketing_ref Remembers which ad or link brought you here 30 days
consent_record Saves your cookie preferences to avoid repeated prompts 12 months

Managing Cookies Through Your Browser

Most browsers let you control cookies directly. Here's how to access those settings in common browsers:

Chrome
  • Click the three dots in the top right corner
  • Select Settings, then Privacy and security
  • Click on Cookies and other site data
  • Choose your preferred blocking level
Firefox
  • Open the menu and go to Settings
  • Select Privacy & Security from the left panel
  • Under Cookies and Site Data, click Manage Data
  • Remove specific sites or clear all data
Safari
  • Go to Safari menu, then Preferences
  • Click the Privacy tab
  • Adjust cookie blocking under Website tracking
  • Click Manage Website Data to remove specific cookies

How Long We Keep This Data

Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Persistent cookies stick around for the duration listed in the table above. Analytics data gets anonymized after 90 days and we delete user-specific tracking information after 26 months.

If you delete your account with us, we remove all associated tracking data within 30 days. Some aggregated statistics might remain but they won't contain anything that identifies you personally.

Third-Party Tracking

We use Google Analytics to understand site traffic patterns. Google sets their own cookies and processes that data according to their privacy policy. We've configured our analytics to respect Do Not Track signals and to anonymize IP addresses before logging them.

Updates to This Policy

When we change how we handle cookies, we'll update this page and adjust the date at the top. If we add new tracking methods that significantly change our data collection, we'll notify active users via email and ask for updated consent where required by law.

You can always come back to this page to see the current state of our tracking practices. We keep an archive of previous versions available on request.
